The Life
look, around here love is what moves us.
every morning I take Angela to the window to see the sunrise, and she, a true Taurean, wakes up happy, gifts me with a smile, and stares fixedly at the window watching the sunlight pour in. And that has become the happiest ritual of my day.
and this moment got even better: the pediatrician asked us to take her out for some morning sun.
and I, being someone who’s in love with the city, smiled and thought, “wow, I’m going to be my daughter’s host in the place I love most in the world.”
it’s astonishing the peace she feels when I take her out of the house, when she looks at the sky, looks around, breaks into a smile, the sun hits her little face, she closes her eyes and then opens them again, I stroke her hair, and I always get emotional—and I always will—when she stops and looks at the sea. I talk to her, I imagine how happy she will be in that little corner of the beach...
the other day we were at the lookout point and a small plane flew by carrying a banner along the shore, and for the first time she looked at it and followed the whole path of the little plane with her eyes. And I thought, “wow, that’s the first plane my daughter has ever seen.”
everything is new, for her and for me.
it has been an incredible opportunity to be Angela’s father, and lately I’ve started taking her to Arpoador in the mornings. I don’t even need to say how emotional I was—the place where I feel the most at home, she got to know. And as a gift, the Rio autumn has been giving us beautiful days.
life has never been so beautiful.
and her mother, curious about our outings, came with us one morning to Arpoador, and I, being a good husband and a good father, made sure to capture the moment.
after all, they have a great photographer.
life is vast!
